Home Sweet Home

That title sums it up pretty much. I'm home.

I summed up the end of my externship Friday, July 15th. Spent my last service expediting orders and turning over my saute station to another extern who was going to take my spot. Service ran smoothly for the most part, and I said my farewells to the Garden of the Gods Club.

My mom had come out to help me move back, so following that Saturday I took her out to the Broadmoor and we ate at the Tavern. My mom and her side of the family know a band member in the Tavern Orchestra. So we watched the band and had an amazing evening. I really couldn't take photos because the lighting was low. But for dinner we had:
-Appetizer: Oysters Rockefeller
-Entrees: Mom had Dover Sole a la menuire with roasted fingerling potatoes and asparagus
I had a 16oz Rib eye Medium Rare with Sauce Bearnaise and Creamed Spinach
-Dessert: Cheesecake with Blood Orange Coulis
Overall it was an amazing meal and I would most definitely recommend anyone who's in Colorado, if you can make a trip out to the Broadmoor, go to the Tavern on either on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, see the band (They start at 8:30) and be sure to make a reservation!

On that Sunday, Mom and I took a trip up to Boulder and Denver. In Boulder we just walked around the Pearl Street Mall, they had an arts fair going on so we saw that and just kinda hung out really. When we went to Denver we ate at Cherry Cricket's, and that was by far on of the best burgers I've ever had and we ate at this ice cream shop call Sweet Action, and that ice cream ranks up their with Jeni's (a review to come since I'm home!)

The one and only Cherry Cricket.

A cricket burger with grilled onions, American cheese and an egg over easy. AMAZING!

Salted Butterscotch Ice Cream (Doesn't it look amazing)

This was just a Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, it has such an awesome flavor!

Outside the shop.

On the drive back we stopped in Kansas City, Kansas and had KC BBQ with my friend Lisa who was recently on extern out in San Fransisco. Dad and I stopped at Jack Stack's on our way out there and I had to go again on the way back. In the middle of our trip we stopped in Columbia, Missouri and on recommendation from Lisa, she told us to eat at Erine's and we had an amazing breakfast.

RIBS AND BBQ!

MORE RIBS AND BBQ!

A delicious plate of two eggs over easy, two pork chops, hash browns and buttered white toast.

But we made it back home, after two days of cross country driving.

SO EVERYONE KNOWS!: The blog will stay up and I will keep writing so stay tuned for more posts! It's close to 2:30 eastern time so I'm going to head off to bed because I've got grocery shopping in the morning to do!

"Baby Come Back"

Yes, the title of the post is from a hit 70's song sang by Player. Here's the link to the YouTube video and you can listen to it while reading the post:

Wow, its been slightly over a month since my last post. Well to recap it all, alot of things have happened. My family was out here for about a week and a half so while they were here I kinda shut myself off because I was with my family, I hadn't seen them in months and it was just nice to have the around.

After my family left, I kinda, actually, really have been working just about 2 1/2 weeks straight. So I haven't had a day off since they left and its just been me working, working, working late nights. So therefore alot of stuff was put on the back burner. I did finally get a day off (hence forth why I'm writing for a change!)

So, I was able to catch up on some sleep, laundry, writing some past thoughts and ideas and realize I've got two more shifts and I'm done with externship. TWO MORE SHIFTS, admittedly its felt like its passed by fast but then again so much has happened in the past 18 weeks with change of staff, etc and just being busy. My mom will be here tomorrow afternoon to help me move back and I'll finish out work and then I'm going to relax and enjoy some of Colorado for a change. Then on the 19th the car will be packed up and I'll be on my way back to Ohio for school to start. But don't worry, this blog won't end everyone. I'll still write about school and more. But as for the rest of my day off, I'm going to Manitou Springs for dinner and I'm just going to relax. I'm signing off for today to go finish some things and start the packing.
